There was a time when desktop computers ruled the world of technology, and notebook computers were the hottest gadget around. Similarly, several years ago the best internet connection people can hope for was through dial-up, which was soon overshadowed by the faster DSL and cable connection types. However, with the perpetual advancement in modern technology, computers have taken on another form an internet access has risen above cable and telephone lines. Today, we live in the era of the Tablet PC and the wireless internet.
The constant change in technology is brought about by the fast transformation of modern-day living. People are always on the move and need to communicate from time to time. Seeing this need, IT companies initiated the beginnings of mobile technology and look what we have now. The Notebook computers, cell phones, Wi-Fi hotspots, and many other devices provide the mobility and convenience service in our life.
Before the latest high-tech gadgets came out, mobile phones were the best devices connecting people anytime anywhere. Their basic purpose then and now is to provide ease of communication. However, cell phones have also upgraded by adopting some PC functions to cope with the demands of modern life. Today, a good mobile phone should have the basic text message and call functions plus a high-resolution camera for pictures, videos, and video calling, browser application for web surfing, Bluetooth and GPRS and of course, the obligatory Wi-Fi ready function for wireless internet access.
The reason why Tablet PCs are sought-after gadgets is because they address that need to be mobile and communicate. These devices are portable personal computers, which are smaller than desktops and more compact than a laptop. Plus with their large memory capacity for file storage, numerous media applications for entertainment and the standard features of email, instant messaging, 3G and wireless internet access, and web browsing, Tablet PCs are rapidly becoming a necessity than just a fad. Having one is like having a mobile phone and PC in one handy package.
Centuries ago, it takes mankind to create new inventions a lot longer but with the kind of knowledge and technology we have today, new advancements are coming out every few months or years only. Who knows what kind of hybrid devices will rule the market ten or twenty years henceforth. We might have cell phones and computers that fly or every corner in the world has wireless internet connections.
